This
article caters to the on campus one-and-a-half-year long Executive Post Graduate Diploma
in International Business (EPGDIB) at Indian Institute Of Foreign Trade (IIFT). I have just completed the EPGDIB (2012-14 batch) programme as the final semester results were declared on 3-December-2014 and would like to share my thoughts on the programme.
Course Structure:
Course Structure:
- The programme is very rigorous in terms of course structure/modules and has best in-class faculty members available.
- The functional insights provided on Marketing, Finance, HR, Supply Chain, Operations etc. and thereafter their International ways of linking and working (like Cross-Border Marketing, International Trade Logistics and Documentation, International Finance Management etc..) I believe no other institute in India can provide that except IIFT.

I happened to sit for the admission process and would like to share my experience. Before I share my experience, I would like to share my answers which I wrote in the application form.
NOTE: Please do not copy the answers as they would do no good for you. IIFT interview panel is very experienced and would catch you within no time. So use these answers just as a REFERENCE.

On a day when earth has almost completed a round around the Sun, I sat down and thought of writing few liners which might help all of us in resolving the complications of Life.
Missing Somebody ? ……………………………………………………………………Call
Wanna Meet Up ? ……………………………………………………………………….Invite
Wanna Be Understood ? ……………………………………………………….……..…Explain
Have Questions ? ……………………………………………….................................Ask
Don’t Like Something ?…………………………………………………………………Say It
Like Something ? ……………………………………………………………………….State It
Want Something ? ..............................................................................................Ask For It
Love Someone? …………………………………………………………………………Tell It
Guys, nobody will know what’s going on your mind. It’s better to Explain rather than Expect. We all have the answer for NO, take the risk of getting YES !!
btw It’s Your Life, make It Large.
TCS Salary Hike April 2012 – An Estimate
This post was originally posted by me on 22-Nov-2011. But due to severe parental pressures had to remove it. Now since the tides have subdued so re-posting again.
For the past 1 Year I had the privilege to estimate software size and cost. This lead me to produce an estimate for the upcoming salary structures across Indian IT Companies and more precisely TCS. I took out my Numerical Analysis book (which I hardly studied during my Engineering) and started with each chapter. I found out ways of Computing the trajectory of a spacecraft by accurate numerical solutions of a system using ordinary differential equations. The way Hedge funds (private investment funds) carry out numerical analysis to calculate the value of stocks and derivatives more precisely than other market participants. So the process of understanding Numerical & Graph Analysis was becoming interesting.
This study has been prepared on the famous Newton’s Algorithm - Newton–Raphson Method along with Linear Interpolation, Current IT Market Scenario and Macro Level Challenges which IT Companies normally suffer with. So once the techniques were applied I could not believe my eyes with the sort of data these procedures provided and believe me I was not disappointed. The study takes into consideration that most of us would be placed in Band B or Band C. As, people hardly get Band A in TCS with 3 Years Experience. The study fails for Band D because TCS has an unusual process of decreasing the salary rather than increasing it. So by means if you happen to have a Band D (unfortunately) your experience would have increased with a negative hike in salary. It’s weird but TRUE.

Recently one of my colleagues resigned from an IT Company. Everyone wished Good Luck except for a certain section of people. The idea behind this boycott was not clear. Was it the Pain and Suffering which they still wanted to infuse on the resigned person or the Pain and Work Pressure they (i.e. people who boycotted) would be experiencing once the resigned person is not available in the organization?
The thought behind this comes from a recent development which happened 2-3 weeks back. This colleague of mine is highly technically talented, works well under pressure and is a calm and composed character. Everyone used to seek his technical guidance from a trainee to a Group Leader. Before he resigned everything was cool, people were interacting properly, and things were working as expected. The work related discussions went to the extent of office lifts and facebook chats. But the day he resigned people stopped talking to him. They started behaving as if he had committed a murder. Even in the office lifts they behaved as if they don’t know him. I was literally shocked and later laughed with my colleague watching people behaving in such an abnormal way.
